SPI 2018

During Sept. 25 – 27, ISS took part in the Solar Power International (SPI) conference in Anaheim, CA, an event organized by industry leaders Solar Energy Industries Association and Smart Electric Power Alliance.  SPI and Energy Storage International (ESI) co-sponsored the event, which boasted nearly 20,000 attendees along with more than 700 exhibiting companies.  Industry professionals in attendance ran the gamut from those in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), investors, developers, equipment manufacturers, to installers.  The wide range of solar companies – utility scale, residential, and community – was represented as well.  Hallways were bustling with people offering products and conducting demonstrations; there was even a micro-grid assembled for people to see.

The ISS booth was manned by Katie Mussel, a member of our marketing team, who enjoyed the energy of the crowds stopping by to drop off business cards, pick up swag, and chat about all the latest happenings at ISS.

The ISS engineering team was present and spent their time in battery storage workshops and panel discussions.  Since ESI co-sponsored SPI, there were numerous workshops, panels, and presentations focused on the outlook, implementation, operation, safety, market potentials, and value streams of energy storage.  Besides the preponderance of battery energy storage discussions, the expo floor was also dominated by battery manufacturers and the emerging companies offering battery storage solutions.

SPI 2018 was a great success, and ISS looks forward to participating next year.
