Colossal Growth in Colorado

As a solar developer with a multitude of projects in Colorado, ISS is thrilled to be a part of the increasing production of solar energy in the state. Solar and alternative energy companies support a combined 15,000 jobs in Colorado. Which in turn provides tens of millions in state and local taxes as well and representing billions in private investments. During the first quarter of this year, Colorado added 39 megawatts of solar power. Up 19% from the same time last year.

According to the Solar Energy Industries Association “The state has a total of 1,227 megawatts installed,” that’s more than double the number of megawatts produced in 2015. One megawatt provides enough electricity for around 200 homes. This means hundreds of thousands of homes are now being powered by solar. Like in other top producing states “A new law enacted this year calls on utilities to reduce emissions by 80% of 2005 levels by 2030, with a 100% clean energy target by 2050.” According to Montrose Press “Our congressional delegation recognizes the benefits of energy storage for Colorado and is pursuing policies to help the industry expand. U.S. Sens. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., and Michael Bennet, D-Colo., are both co-sponsoring the Energy Storage Tax Incentive and Deployment Act.” The CEO of the Colorado Solar and Storage Association said bills passed this year by Colorado lawmakers “put the state on an upward trajectory”.

ISS is proud to be at the forefront of solar development in Colorado with multiple utility-scale solar farms across the state. Helping the state to make their progressive 2030 and 2050 goals.
